After many months of presentations and announcements, the first Samsung TV set created in MicroLED technology – The Wall – went on sale. Unfortunately, it is equipment only for rich connoisseurs of audio-video equipment.
Samsung The Wall has so far been a frequent guest at various fairs (including CES or IFA) and the presentation of this concern – but finally we have finally premiered this extraordinary equipment. It is worth noting that we are dealing with a model that you will not find in stores – the device is only available via the manufacturer's website due to the need to adapt each order to customer needs.
MicroLED is great technology, although the viewing angles do not impress
The Wall TV is based on MicroLED panels 806.4 × 453.6 mm with a resolution of 960 × 540 pixels each. Typical brightness for these panels is 250 rivets, but they are able to reach this parameter at the level of even 2000 rivets. The contrast here is even 10,000: 1, and the color depth is 16 bits. The refresh parameter, depending on the configuration, is 100 or 120 Hz, and a little bit Viewing angles of 155 degrees horizontal and 135 degrees vertical are not satisfactory.
Samsung The Wall is powered processor Samsung Quantum Processor Flex SoCwhich among others allows you to support upscaling content technology, as well as support for virtually all HDR standards available on the market. Of course, there is also a lack of support for many popular applications as part of Smart TV, as well as support for the Samsung Bixby voice assistant.
The smallest commercially available TV variant has a 73-inch diameter – which is quite surprising, however, it presents the image only in FullHD resolution and consists of four MicroLED panels. For comparison, the smallest (146-inch) TV that supports 4K resolution is built from as many as sixteen modules. Customers will also get two even larger variants of TV sets – 219-inch in 6K resolution and a 292-inch monster with 8K resolution.
The price – unfortunately – is from space
Unfortunately, as you expect, Samsung The Wall is also a very expensive TV – although Samsung does not boast of open prices, but it is known that for the 292-inch variant of this model we will pay about … usd 2 million. I feel something that this model will be an extremely rare specimen in Polish homes.
